Centennial Flame in Ottawa, Canada
04. Jan. 09 Centennial Flame This is a fountain with a symbolic flame in the center. On 1, 1967, then Prime Minister Lester B. Pearson first lit the flame to mark the Centennial celebrations, which was the 100th anniversary of the Canadian Confederation. The fountain is located between the gates to Parliament Hill and the doors of the Center Block, and each province is represented in the fountain by the coat of arms shield that can be seen, which the water runs underneath. Above all, it is a monument to Canadian unity and the combination of fire and water is meant to symbolize the togetherness of English and French Canada. January
1-st Jan. 2009 New Year's party! I took this at the party last night or ... this morning - not very sure :) in an Italian restaurant. Too bad that at 3 o'clock when we left I forgot his business card on the table, and I cannot send him the photos... Good reason to go back tonight ;) Happy New Year 2009 everybody!!! PS: This is a shot straight from the camera, I didn't touch it other than transferring it from iphoto library to a folder on my desktop... hmm strange... I never had this problem before... Oct. 25, 2010 The Zombie woman was not alone!!! Saturday, a whole group of bizarre apparitions could have been seen in the same area. The police were not even able to intervene, and the obvious arrest of the disguised police woman did not happen. Apparently they are very aggressive when threatened and also dangerous. This is a phenomenon, known as "Zombie Walk" that has been occurring for the past 5 years in the Canadian capital, in the same day of the year, one week before Halloween. It is still unknown if this is somehow related to the holiday or not. It's interesting that Zombie groups have been seen simultaneously on different parts of the world, like Paris, Holland, USA, Australia, UK, Brazil, and others... More photos of this event in the days to come :) * Thank you for you comments on my yesterday photo and for your enthusiasm on this modest journalistic attempt :) PS: I just re-proccessed the original photo, to give you a more sense of how dangerous these guys can be :) - the original can still be found here: http://allbiz.smugmug.com/Photography/Street/Street-and-PJ-Ottawa-2010/12321725_FxFo5#1061338047_Enayn
